Rally Diabolico is bringing innovative new elements to off-road racing in North America. Four days of cross-country stage rally racing in an incredible desert region that is undiscovered by the off-road racing world. In keeping with the name, Diabolico includes new challenges and new terrain that will blow your mind. Leave those same old silty whooped out roads behind for a few days, and experience the most remote uncharted open desert regions of Mexico.
This rally is the only event of its kind in North America, with features that will test your skills like no other race, and rattle you to the deepest points of your body, mind, and soul. Half of the rally will be TRUE off-road, i.e. no roads at all, wide open desert, pick your own path, no corridors, no fences, no restrictions, . . .
. . . go from here to there any way you can, as fast as you can!
Diabolico is . . . diabolical ! ! !
Rally Diabolico is modeled after the granddaddy of rally events, Dakar
If you've ever wondered what Dakar is like, Diabolico is designed to give you a taste, albeit a gnarly taste. We’ve pulled out all the stops, and made stages that will challenge even the most experienced off-road racers.
That doesn’t mean just cool, wild, and crazy terrain. It also means very difficult navigation. In line with true cross-country rally, no GPS tracks will be provided or allowed, no maps are provided or allowed, and there is no pre-running. It’s you, your vehicle, the roadbook, your navigation, and the wide-open desert.
To win in this rally it will take savvy navigation, precise driving, serious guts, and care for your machine, . . . for four days straight. With the bikes, that all has to be packaged in one person, an ironman rider !
April 2nd - 5th, 2014
Rally Diabolico is held three weeks after the Mint 400, and three weeks before SCORE Plaster City.
► Wed. April 2 - Registration, Tech, Stage 1 Prologue race
► Thur. April 3 - Stage 2 race
► Fri. April 4 - Stage 3 race
► Sat. April 5 - Stage 4 race, Awards
For those looking to learn how rally works, and learn roadbook navigation, a rally school will be available Tuesday April 1 (the day before registration), presented by Dave at RMS.
This schedule packs a lot of action into a short amount of time, so you can get in, get 'er done, and get back home without using a year's worth of vacation time. And the convenient location means less travel time and lower travel expenses compared to many other desert races.
Add to that the minimal crew and logistics needed, and it's clear, Diabolico delivers a huge bang for the buck.
